Every month O2 releases a locket special as their monthly Force for Good. We have had lockets that raised money for the Humane Society, Cancer Foundations, Military Groups, Homeless, Heart & Stroke Foundations, Tim Tebow Foundation and so many others. This month really touches me.
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and Origami Owl® recognizes that we have an opportunity to uplift and support others around this topic. Many of us know someone who has been affected by suicide. Each year, in the United States alone, more than 44,000 individuals die by suicide, and it’s the second leading cause of death among individuals ages 10-24. I have lost several friends to suicide. One who loved to yell KAYLA when I walked in a room, would give big hugs and loved to be around his friends. Another one I loved to joke with, also always gave big hugs and had an infection grin. And I never knew they were hurting so bad. My heart hurts for the pain they must have been experiencing and I wish I could give them one more hug and tell them they matter... like, a lot... to many many people.

When I read the 'You Matter... like, a lot.' it makes me tear up. Being a mom of three can be such a struggle, to where most days you feel like a failure more than not. Being a mom regardless of the number of child can be a struggle. Motherhood is the most trying thing I have ever done, and also the one thing I have had the most struggle with. Don't get me wrong, it is also the greatest thing, but we all know it is easier to focus on the hard times and not the good times. So reading this, I realize I do matter. Especially to 3 little babies that don't see my struggle. They see my laughs, and kisses, my tickles, (and maybe a little yelling mixed in). They see my love for them in hugs and kisses. I know I definitely matter to them.
